The City of Lula is very concerned as to the amount of potential truck traffic that will go thru Lula to the proposed INLAND PORT FACILITY (train rail yard) on HWY 365. Ga DOT is offering an opportunity to hear the public concerns related to the traffic generated and current conditions. The amount of truck traffic generated by the Inland Port (rail yard) is estimated to be as many as 400 tractor trailers a day, seven days a week. The City of Lula’s concern is that a great deal of truck traffic may very well use HWY 51 (2 lane highway) straight through Lula to reach HWY 365 and the Inland Port. If even a fraction of truck traffic uses this route to access HWY365 it will be devasting to the City of Lula making downtown a throughfare for tractor trailers. Are hope is the community will get involved and ask questions at such meeting and seek to lessen the potential impact this can be on the city of Lula.
