Your garbage/solid waste collection tips
Garbage Collection March 2023
As most of the community is aware your Garbage Collection Service (Waste Management) that the City has contracted with, is now using “assisted side load truck collection” to make curb collection of your 90 gallon can. Which basically means your trash can is mechanically picked up and deposed of into the garbage truck.
With the change there are a couple of items that will assist in your collection
- Trash Can should be placed at the curb for collection.
- Trash Can should be 3 feet apart and 3 feet away from any fixed object such as mailbox , fire hydrants, and telephone poles, etcetera.
- Trash Cans should be facing the street (at the curb) with the handle facing the house.
Reminder—– the city contracts for each resident to have household waste receptacle of 90 gallons collected once per week. Waste Management will not pick up items that are not in the garbage can.
How do we compare to other communities for garbage collection City of Lula contracted rate is $14.73
Cornelia, GA $20.95 per (once) week
(40% more)
Gainesville, GA $32.10 per month, includes recycle, back door options, City provides service.
(117% more)
Homer, $17.00 (they are due for an increase) .
(15% More)
Lavonia, Waste Management kept it with an increase to $15.59 (same level of service as Lula).
(5.83% More)
Jefferson, GA went from $13.84 to $17.81 effective 2022,
(20.9% More)
Commerce, GA $15.47 per month, includes recycling service too.
( 5.02% More)
Baldwin GA $15.00 per month
(1.83% More)
Cleveland GA $20.05 per month
