Congratulations! And on behalf of the City Council, our dedicated staff and the Citizens of Lula, I want to welcome you to our City!
You will find a progressive atmosphere in a City that maintains its small town sense of community which is so lacking in many areas today. Lula has traditionally been“halfway in between” Atlanta and Greenville or Gainesville and Cornelia. Today our citizens will tell you that means we are convenient to everything!
The following document will provide you with an introduction to our City, information about doing business and living in Lula and some of the many resources available to you that will create an atmosphere of success for your business and enrich the lives of your employees who live here.
Our City Council and staff are working to provide a business friendly atmosphere while serving our families and strengthening our sense of community.
We currently have very economical water and sewer rates and lower taxes than other cities or counties in our region. Our high quality ground water sources and state of the art waste water treatment facility ensure excellent water quality for our service area.
Your initial point of contact will be our City Manager, Dennis Berg in who can provide you with specific information about locating your business in our City, zoning and any necessary permits, licenses and amenities or resources available to you. You will find contact information for Mr. Berg in at the end of this document.
We look forward to welcoming you, your business and your employees to the City of Lula! Things are happening in Lula and we hope you will come and be a part of that.

NORFOLK SOUTHERN MAINLINE
The announcement on December 3, 2018 created quite a stir in the nearby communities. The $15 million project is expected to create 40 jobs within the Inland Port itself but will have the potential of attracting hundreds if not thousands of jobs in new manufacturing and warehouse facilities that will want to be located near this shipping hub. The Inland Port is located just 2.1 miles south of Lula northwest of Georgia Hwy 365 adjacent to the existing Norfolk Southern Railway main line. It is expected to reduce the time and cost of shipping goods from this area to the Port of Savannah and will save local businesses time and money bringing in raw material and shipping out finished goods.
The timetable calls for construction to begin in late 2019 with completion in 2021. Since the announcement, several industries and distribution facilities have announced plans to build in the immediate area near Lula. The new employees at these facilities will increase the demand for housing in the Lula area as well.

The Lula Water System currently depends on four wells as water sources which are monitored daily to insure water quality. The City is currently in the process of acquiring two additional well sites to provide for additional water sources to provide capacity for anticipated growth in residential, commercial and industrial customers.
The Safe Drinking Water act gives government agencies at Federal, State and local levels the rules and regulations to insure that the water we drink is safe. Over 500 tests were performed on our community’s drinking water during the year and the reports that we received were excellent. We are proud of the ongoing efforts by our staff to keep our water safe to drink for all the citizens of the City of Lula.
Georgia consumers and businesses benefit from a competitive deregulated market for natural gas in Georgia. For more information, please visit the Georgia Public Service Commission website at: Selecting a Natural Gas Marketer
In January 2019, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division awarded Lula the designation of “Outstanding Performer” based on the City’s performance in lack of deficiencies, excellence in monitoring and reporting and overall compliance. In addition to exceptional quality, Lula’s sewer rates are lower than most cities and counties in the region.

Jaemor Farms is North Georgia’s most recognized Agribusiness Success!
The Echols family at Jaemor Farms has been harvesting crops from this land for 107 years. Mr. Jimmy Echols has grown peaches his entire life and is thankful for the farming tradition that was started by his grandfather in 1912. The original peach shed still sits outside his house on Old Cornelia Highway. He purchased the farm from his parents in the early 1960s. Today you can enjoy quality vegetables, strawberries and, of course, peaches as well as some “fun on the farm”.
